Openzonelab began as a side project between friends who kept sending each other prototypes “just to test something real quick.”
Three years later and we actually have real players. Still can’t believe it sometimes. Now we have real responsibility and everything.
We’re not trying to be the biggest. Just honest, creative, and consistent.
We don’t stick to just one style. If a mechanic sparks something, we follow it.
We build places that feel alive, even when they’re not realistic.
Story and gameplay usually hate each other in most games. We’re trying to get them to play nice.
A lot of trial, a lot of error, and eventually — something that feels right.
If a mechanic needs a paragraph to explain, we rework it.
Open chats, shared builds, fast feedback loops.
We’ve thrown away weeks of work more times than I want to count. It sucks, but sometimes you gotta kill your darlings.
We don’t build for “everyone.” We build for people who appreciate detail
We don’t ship until the project feels genuine — not rushed.
Somehow keeps our messy story threads from becoming a complete disaster.
Writes code that the rest of us swear is magic.
She’s the reason our characters feel like actual people.
Turns rough ideas into something you can actually look at.
We work with small teams and long conversations. If you enjoy thoughtful games, you’ll probably enjoy what we’re making next.

A look behind one of our tougher decisions.
Not everything goes well — and that’s fine.

A breakdown of micro-interactions that matter.
